How do you play the Trap cards and what are each of their effects?
Trap cards are played in front of other players from your hand. Traps with an UP arrow force another player to only play in ASCENDING order, and Traps with a DOWN arrow force another player to only play in DESCENDING order until the end of a round, or until resolved by an Escape card or Wisdom card. +3 Traps force another player to immediately draw 3 cards and can only be resolved by Escape cards. Wisdom cards do not resolve +3 Traps.
How many players does the expansion play?
2- 6 players
Can you play with more than 4 players without the expansion?
Yes, you can technically play with as many players as you dare. Adding more players tends to make the game more chaotic, which is why we list 4 players on the base game box, but you don't technically need the expansion to play with more players. However, the expansion does have a few extra cards that help regulate a larger game and make it more fun.
Is Escape Master easy to pick up and learn?
It is quite simple to learn to play Escape Master, but it is more difficult to pick up if you don't have someone to teach you, or if you have never played a speed card game before. Start slow with a few practice rounds until you get the hang of the mechanics, and then you will be ready to try a game!
Could anyone younger than 10 learn to play?
Yes! It is quite possible, but they will likely need an adult to explain it to them, and they may not be able to play at the same level as older kids. The rules are divided into 3 difficulty levels. Have younger kids start on the easiest level.
